Reflection #1
Thoughts on Standard 2.6
Students sometimes feel voiceless, so I meet them at their interest when they express they want to use their creativity. We had to become more comfortable, allowing learners to explore how they facilitated their learning due to the pandemic. With STEM approaches and the engineering design process, students must be creative and shrewd to find solutions to problems they may encounter on the academic and personal development path. Utilizing a strategic approach to using technology and an explanation of how that can assist students moving forward with post-secondary placements helps with understanding the importance of self-sufficiency.
Reflection #2
Relevance to my practice
By creating learning modules such as a choice board or a digital playlist, students can choose what they want to do to further their educational process. The various modes of expression provided within these modules allow students to tap into their creative sides. For instance, the choice board assignment will enable students to become writers and presenters through an infomercial. At the same time, the digital playlist allows students to utilize their acting skills while reinforcing the causes of the Revolutionary War.
Project #1 Design a Learning Activity Using ID Principles
The history choice board is a way to tap into students' intrinsic motivation and willingness to build and reinforce concepts covered on their GED exams individually. My program can also offer extrinsically motivated students gift cards for participating on this board. Using the 4' C's (communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity) gives learners a strong foundation on 21st-century skills, something employers look for when hiring and giving opportunities for growth.
