Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning.

Set professional learning goals to explore and apply pedagogical approaches made possible by technology and reflect on their effectiveness.

Pursue professional interests by creating and actively participating in local and global learning networks.

Reflection #1

Thoughts on Standard 2.1

Learning should be perpetual. The world is a melting pot full of diverse people with different ideas. As time passes, educators will meet with students from all walks of life, and being willing to engage with them to increase their confidence and productivity is essential. Every student has different learning styles, and there is no one-size-fits-all remedy in teaching. Being open to new ideas and emerging technology gives an alternative way for educators to connect with their learners.

Reflection #2

Relevance to my practice

This standard impacts my practice because technology surrounds us every day. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my organization had to find various online options to captivate our learners and keep their attention. We could interact with our students for remote instruction through applications like Flip, Quizziz, and EdPuzzle. I still utilize these resources for icebreaker purposes or curriculum reinforcement in person.

Project #1 SMART Goals Video

The SMART goals video project gave me a structure to analyze and determine precisely what goals were most important to me.  These are ongoing goals that, due to some changes professionally, I am still working on. This project is relevant to the ISTE standard because before I can help formulate future plans for my students, I must be able to create my own.
